OverviewHigh speed, high quality black & white printing of medical images in a compact space-saving footprint with analogue and digital inputsThe UP-X898MD is a compact A6 medical grade black and white digital printer that can accept analogue video as well as PC-friendly digital USB signal inputs.

It’s designed to be integrated into a wide range of compatible medical imaging environments such as digital ultrasound systems, mobile C-arms or cardiac catheterisation laboratory. The high quality thermal print engine can produce hard copy prints of still images captured by these systems for use in patient records and referrals. For even greater convenience, printed still images can also be stored to a connected USB flash drive.

The UP-X898MD is a successor to the popular Sony UP-897 series of medical printers. Redesigned and upgraded, it offers several operational and ergonomic enhancements while retaining the same space-saving footprint and easy integration into medical carts. Usability is further enhanced by an enlarged LCD display panel and joystick for intuitive menu navigation.

Unique Sony technology allows paper to be cut in two directions – both up and down – as a lower cutter is newly included, along with the conventional upper cutter. This enables flexible printer installation in almost any location as well as smooth printing operations.Wireless Printing CapabilityBy using the optional UPA-WU10* Wireless Print System, you can achieve cable-free connection between the Sony digital printer with 5V USB output port**, mobile C-arm and other hospital imaging modalities.

High print qualityAdvanced thermal printing technology enables photo-quality black & white prints with a high resolution up to approximately 325 dpi and grey levels up to 256 steps.Dual cutter configurationIn addition to the conventional upper cutter, a lower cutter has been added to the front door. This enables paper to be cut in a downward direction in addition to an upward direction. This increased flexibility in cutting direction expands location choices for printer installation. For example, even if the printer is installed immediately below the operation console of an ultrasound system, paper can easily be cut from the front.
